Somewhere around Arashiyama

In 2018, I spent the month of May in Japan. I had an exhibition for my art there, and got the opportunity to travel around for three weeks, exploring different corners of this amazing country. My sketchbook was with me everywhere. I went, capturing special and magical moments with my brushes and watercolor paints, with my eyes and my heart. I was documenting my trip along the way, and finished some of the sketches in New York, using hundreds of images taken there as a reference. Memories of breathtaking places which looked like scenes from Miyazaki movies, transformed into paintings and sketches, one of which you see here as a print.
